Malaysia Mise En Scene
(Reblogged from knighttravels)

Malaysia is a strangely seductive place with a diverse cultural history and some pretty amazing modern architecture rising out of the jungle. KL Tower and the Patronas Twin Towers pretty much dominate the skyline, and it’s hard not to aim a camera at them when they’re around. I am sure the locals are over it by now … not me.

Jerome Kugan and I played several collaborative shows together this time, but I always enjoy just being a spectator while he glissandos between songs. Surprisingly, a friend of mine hooked up this 89.9 interview. I did better than my Tv appearance (on the breakfast show) the previous year. It helped that I really liked the station’s playlist which darted back and forth across three decades of some of the best top 40 music.

Making some key appearances here are the MONKEYS which most people can’t get enough of. They so crazy! My good buddy Gavin Yap is mostly seen drunk on whiskey here, but the dude seriously deserves some props for housing my disheveled ass for a good month and a half. Make sure not to ask him who broke his sink, and how. Ray Cheong and I jammed out ‘The Wind Cries Mary’ backstage at KL Sing Song. He’s a great performer and a super cool fella. Douglas Lim (a well-known stand-up comedian) was nice enough to answer my request for a Malay song during what was probably the drunkest night of the last six months.
